The Mechai Bamboo School is a new type of innovative educational and development institution. This rural boarding secondary school was established to be a lifelong learning center for all and as a hub for social and economic advancement.
Classrooms and other school buildings are made of Bamboo and include the world’s largest bamboo geodesic dome, based on the geodesic design of the world famous American architect Buckminster Fuller.
The school is convinced that discipline is a most important characteristic of a good citizen and, apart from other measures, has introduced limitations on the use of mobile telephones to one hour per week. Students are also required to write three letters to parents, friends and important leaders in exchange for the use of the telephone.
